Action Pack in a DAW

Before you begin

Action Pack runs inside a digital audio workstation as an instrument plug-in. The host must discover the plug-in before it can be loaded into a project. Use the host’s plug-in scan or discovery process, following the host’s own documentation for its exact steps.

Begin with a comfortable monitoring level. Check the track and main output levels before auditioning a sound, especially when the project already contains other instruments or processing.

Load and audition

Create or choose an instrument track, then load Action Pack as an instrument on that track. Use the plug-in’s audition or trigger control to hear the selected sound. The control can be used repeatedly while comparing settings and listening to changes.

If the host offers more than one way to add an instrument, use the workflow that keeps the plug-in’s output routed through a track in the host mixer.

Presets and controls

Choose a preset as a starting point, audition it, and then adjust the labelled parameters to shape the result. Changing one parameter at a time makes it easier to hear how each control affects the sound before several changes are combined.

A preset is a starting state rather than a separate audio file. The sound remains adjustable through the plug-in controls after a preset is selected.

Put the sound in the mix

Route the instrument track through the host mixer and balance its level with the rest of the project. Host effects and routing can be applied after the plug-in when the sound needs to sit in a wider mix.

When the result is ready, use the host’s render, bounce, or export workflow to capture the instrument output. Check the rendered file in the same way as any other instrument track before delivering or reusing it.

Troubleshooting

• The plug-in is not listed: run the host’s plug-in scan or discovery process again, then consult the host documentation for supported plug-in formats and scan settings.
• The plug-in loads but is silent: use its audition or trigger control, then check the track and main output levels, mute and solo state, and output routing.
• A preset does not sound as expected: select it again, audition the sound, and check whether its labelled parameters were changed afterwards.
• A render is silent or incomplete: confirm that the instrument track and its output routing are included in the host’s render or export setup.
